Accessibility
Websites everyone in your audience can use
Research is only useful if the people it is for can reach it. Funders and universities increasingly expect WCAG 2.2 AA, and so do the practitioners, policymakers, and community organisations you want to reach. We build to that standard by default, for every client.
How we deliver accessibility for clients
WCAG 2.2 AA from the first design
Contrast, text size, spacing, and focus states are set in the design system from the start, not patched in after launch.
Brand colours that pass
When a brand palette is too pale for text, we keep it for graphics and choose darker shades for words. The colours in our own logo work this way.
Keyboard and screen reader friendly
Proper headings and landmarks, skip links, menus that work without a mouse, and text alternatives for images that carry meaning.
Respects how people use devices
Reduced-motion settings honoured, text that zooms, and layouts that hold up on small screens and slow connections.
Tested, and honest about it
Automated testing of every page plus manual checks, and an accessibility statement that says what was and was not tested. Your compliance team can use it as it stands.
Your editors keep it accessible
Page templates, content guidance, and training so that new posts and resources stay accessible long after handover.
Accessibility statement for this website
Last updated 30 September 2026
Our aim
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Based on the testing below, we believe it does.
How we tested
On 30 September 2026 we ran the axe-core automated testing engine on every page of the website (home, services, work, each case study, about, contact, and the not-found page), at desktop and phone widths. It found no failures. We also checked by hand:
- the mobile menu and the contact form work with a keyboard alone, including closing the menu with the Escape key;
- the contrast of every text and background colour combination we use. Our bright blue, orange, and green are used for graphics only, and text uses darker shades that pass;
- the site keeps working when the visitor has asked their device to reduce motion.
Automated tools find only part of the problems people can meet. We have not yet tested with screen readers or commissioned an independent audit, and we would welcome your feedback.
Known limitations
- The Work pages include screenshots of other organisations’ websites. We describe each in text, but the images cannot reproduce the content of the sites they show.
- The contact form uses a Cloudflare human check that is designed to work without puzzles. If it does not work for you, email us instead and we will reply in the same way.
- We link to other organisations’ websites, which we do not control.
