A learning centre for community-led conservation evidence
A dedicated learning centre for an Indonesian conservation organisation: its theory of change, long-form interactive stories, and a filterable library of research, reports, and working papers.
The organisation
Planet Indonesia works with communities across Indonesian Borneo on community-led conservation – protecting forests, mangroves, and fisheries while supporting the livelihoods of the people who depend on them. Over the years it has built a substantial evidence base: peer-reviewed papers, impact evaluations, working papers, and annual reports.
That evidence was exactly what other practitioners, funders, and researchers wanted to learn from. It just wasn’t gathered anywhere they could use it.
What we built
A standalone Learning Center, built from scratch, with three routes in:
- The theory of change, set out clearly as the starting point for everything else.
- Long-form interactive stories that take the most important findings – impact evaluations of the organisation’s core model, a governance index, trust in conservation, larval modelling for marine zoning – and turn them into something people will actually read to the end.
- A full research library, filterable, bringing together dozens of papers, reports, working papers, and guidelines in one place.
The stories do the persuading; the library does the proving.
The outcome
Planet Indonesia now has one place to send anyone who asks “does community-led conservation work, and how do you know?”
We are now rebuilding Planet Indonesia’s main website as well.
