SAGES
Online since 2014 for Scotland's geoscience alliance
The Scottish Alliance for Geoscience, Environment and Society: eight institutions sharing research, funding calls, and graduate programmes, on a site we have run since 2014 and rebuilt in 2024 so the team can manage it themselves.

The alliance
SAGES links eight Scottish institutions working across geoscience, environment, and society. Its website is the shared front door: research news, funding calls, and graduate programmes from across the alliance, in one place.
Over a decade
We launched the site in 2014 and have hosted, maintained, and supported it ever since.
The 2024 rebuild
After ten years, SAGES faced a familiar problem. The site ran on a rigid page builder that the team struggled to update, and its design no longer reflected the quality of the alliance’s work.
We moved the whole site to a modern, responsive platform. The brand was modernised gently, so it still looks like SAGES, while the structure, speed, and ease of editing were rebuilt from the ground up.
The outcome
A site the SAGES team manages themselves, that loads quickly on any device, and that has now outlasted several funding cycles. It is still the first place people go to find out what the alliance is doing.
